Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain Veneers San Diego, CA

Improve the appearance of your smile with dental veneers.

Porcelain veneers have, without a doubt, gained massive popularity in the cosmetic dentistry industry over the past two decades. And it is easy to see why.

For starters, unlike other forms of corrective cosmetic dentistry, they require little or zero anesthesia. For that reason, they are the ideal choice for sprucing up the appearance of our front teeth. Secondly, they can conveniently mask discolorations, be used to brighten faded teeth and improve one’s smile in just one package. What’s more, porcelain veneers are relatively resistant to staining from tea, coffee, or even tobacco. Our laser-thin porcelain veneers also bond well to the applied tooth giving you that elusive attractive appeal that looks naturally gorgeous.

How are Porcelain Veneers Applied?

Majority of our patients typically require at least three appointments to complete the entire procedure:

1. Treatment Planning and Diagnosis

It is important for you to play an active role in the initial stage of the smile design. Here, you can expect to spend a bit of time with a cosmetic dentistry specialist planning for the architecture of the smile. Nonetheless, it is still important to have it at the back of your mind that there are several limitations of this corrective procedure, as much as it is effective in giving your smile a new lease of life.

2. Teeth Preparation

The process of teeth preparation can take anywhere between one to three hours. Here, your teeth will be lightly buffed to allow the addition of a thin layer of porcelain veneer. Less than half a millimeter is typically scrubbed off at this juncture. It is also at this stage that a mold is taken then sent to the laboratory to aid in the creation of the veneers. Often, this may take one or two weeks.

3.  Bonding of the Veneers

This is the last stage of the procedure which involves gluing the veneers on the teeth using a special quick-drying tooth cement. But before that, some adjustments of the ideal color and shape of the veneer can be made to ensure that the final smile achieved looks as naturally gorgeous as possible.
